A Mother's Love

With Mother's Day fast approaching, I thought it would be nice to dedicate this week's blog to mothers everywhere.  A few years ago, I wrote a song called A Mother's Love.  It's a look at the love a mother gives through the eyes of an adopted child.  It's intended to show the love of a mother who knows she can't raise her own child and the love of a mother who raises a child that is not her own.  Every adopted child really has the love of two mothers and this song is intended to demonstrate that.  You may recognize some of the characters described in the song:)

Drawn from the water and the reeds
He would fill her maternal needs
Out of harms way
She would make sure he would stay
In ancient Egypt the story was told
And through the years would unfold
Adopted child pulled from the Nile
To lead his people from exile

Because of A Mother's Love
He would find his destiny
Because of A Mother's Love
He would be what he was meant to be

In old Kansas on a poor farm
A child was sheltered from harm
The last one from his race
He had traveled through time and space
A strange visitor to some
But to her he had become
The answer to a prayer
In the form of adopted son

Because of A Mother's Love
He would find his destiny
Because of A Mother's Love
He would be what he was meant to be

In the Windy City not too long ago
Overnight a family would grow
She would tell him in a song
How they had waited oh so long
Never forget for single minute
Not born under heart, but in it
He's not sure what it all means
But he continues to hope and dream

Because of A Mother's Love
He will find his destiny
Because of A Mother's Love
He will be what he is meant to be
